Plagiarism And Anti-Plagiarism Policies

Undoubtedly, stealing something is not good and it can never be good as it violates our social norms of possession and belonging. The same can be said about any sorts of cheating, and such a concept as plagiarism is actually a combination of both these evils. Plagiarism means nothing else but simple using the words or phrases of other authors in your research papers, academic papers or any other type of writing, thus presenting the words or thoughts of other people as they are your own. Plagiarism is something that can not be tolerated by any instructor or social network, and nowadays, there are very tight policies related to detecting and punishing this common issue (which can go as far as opening criminal cases, etc.).

Anti-plagiarism policiesThese anti-plagiarism policies are very strictly observed and followed in modern schools, colleges, universities and other educational establishments in order to teach students respect the copy-writing rules and avoid plagiarism as a quite common form of cheating. There are pretty many very effective anti-plagiarism tools and special software (including famous Copyscape and others), which are being successfully used to detect and punish those students who plagiarize.

You probably know that all teachers, instructors, professors, or other educators very often remind you about the dangers linked to plagiarism. Therefore, all you need to do is just follow a proper citation policy and always cite the ideas or thought of other people that you’re going to use in your research papers and other academic papers. At that, it is possible to use direct quotations and cite them using such method as in-text citations. Or, it is possible to use other approaches, like footnote citations, or using so called citation list which usually goes in the end of the paper, right before the reference page.

Penalties for plagiarizing and using some one else’s ideas in research papers and other academic works can be different. They usually depend on anti-plagiarism policies of a certain educator of educational establishment. Certainly, those students who were caught on plagiarizing for a few time will not be punished with anything more than an F grade and the necessity to write the academic paper from the scratch. However, more severe situations can take place, when a person caught on plagiarizing can find himself behind the bars. Always keep the mentioned points in mind, and do everything possible to avoid plagiarism in order to receive good grades and win a reputation of a decent student.
